Mapping Culture
Archival Photography Exhibition at Centre for Life, Bikaner
Mapping Culture presented an archival photography collection by Elizabeth Simson (1931–2025), offering a visual record of Western Rajasthan from over five decades ago. Through photographs of communities, textiles, and everyday life, the exhibition invited reflection on memory, culture, and continuity.
The exhibition welcomed 200+ visitors, including students, educators, artists, photographers, researchers, writers, cultural practitioners, government and administrative officials, local residents, tourists, and children with special needs. Participating institutions included NID, Rampuria College, Ryan International School, Shri Gopeshwar Vidyapeeth School, Basant Valley Vidyapeeth School, and Divyang Sewa Sansthan.
The exhibition also featured observation-based activities, storytelling and interpretation exercises for children, live charkha demonstrations, traditional handicrafts, and guided walkthroughs.
